As we approach Easter weekend, my heart overflows with gratitude for the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. His victory over death brings us hope and new life. I invite you to join me in reflecting on the words of the angel at the tomb, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen" (Luke 24:5b-6).
These words remind us that Jesus is alive. He conquered death, and He lives forevermore. As believers, we have the privilege of knowing the one who holds the keys to death and Hades (Revelation 1:18). We can have confidence that our future is secure in Him.
The resurrection of our Lord Jesus is the ultimate example of hope and triumph over darkness. In Luke 24:5b-6, the angels asked the women who came to the tomb, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen." These words are a powerful reminder that our Saviour is alive and that we don't need to look for Him among the dead buried in a tomb.
Let us turn to other scriptures that speak to the resurrection of Jesus. In 1 Corinthians 15:17, we read, "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins." This verse highlights the importance of the resurrection, which is the foundation of our faith. Without the resurrection, we would be lost in our sins and without hope.
But praise be to God, for Jesus did rise from the dead! In John 11:25-26, Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die." These words comfort our hearts and assure us that we have eternal life in Christ.
As we observe the resurrection, let us remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross. In Romans 5:8, we read, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." The resurrection would not have been possible without the sacrifice of Jesus, and it is through His death and resurrection that we have this blessed hope of eternal life.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not just a historical event; it is a powerful demonstration of God's love for us. It shows us that death does not have the final say and that our hope is not in this world. Instead, our hope is in the living Christ who intercedes for us at the right hand of God (Romans 8:34).
And let us share this hope with others who may be seeking the living among the dead.
