Isaiah
26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in
You.
- BsL
This verse helps us understand that the disruption of our inner peace occurs in our minds, not our bodies or external circumstances. Tranquillity begins to depart when we fix our minds on the wrong goals, too many goals, or worse, no goals at all. James 1:8 states, "A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways." Our goal must be focused on carrying out His will for our lives.
We frequently feel distracted and have a lot of other things on our minds. Some of us appear to be running through a mental voice memo of obligations, jobs, commitments, difficulties, and burdens, as well as the tragedies and unsettling events in the world around us.
However, when we focus our thoughts on the nature and perfections of the Lord our God, a different thought process takes over. The declaration that God is our steadfast rock, our fortress amid trials, and the Almighty Lord who holds the entire world and every single one of us in his grasp. God will keep us in complete and constant peace no matter what happens if we have God as our centre and keep our faith steadfastly concentrated on him. It is His promise.
This peace with God is given to those who place their faith in the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. The saved person, who is clothed in Christ's own righteousness, maintains fellowship with the Father and enjoys the perfect peace of God, which is beyond our comprehension when he walks in spirit and truth.
Despite this life's complexities and confusion, as Christians focus their minds on Christ Jesus, they are flooded with a wave of indecipherable calm. You will never find this perfect peace on earth because it only comes from above. Whenever distracting and discouraging thoughts enter our minds, we need to immediately replace them with the truth found in God's Word.
Are you worried or anxious? Do you have God's peace in all circumstances?
To be honest, there are times I have to work hard on keeping God's peace in my heart. It doesn't have to be an impending disaster that makes me lose my peace. It can be less life-impactful irritations that come across my path because I have taken my eyes off God and focused on the distraction on my route.
But Isaiah 26:3 teaches us how to find that perfect tranquilly that enables us to remain composed even while life's storms swirl about us. The key to acquiring this tranquilly is to keep our thoughts on God.
When we keep our focus on God and trust Him with everything in our life, He will keep us in perfect peace.
