Hebrews
4:16
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need
- BsL
The call today is to approach God's throne in prayer with confidence and assurance in order to get the help we require. We must remind ourselves on a daily basis that our God is "the God of the impossible." Nothing is too difficult for Him. Jeremiah 32:27 states, "Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?" We are promised to find grace and mercy at His throne when we approach God.
I appreciate the notion of boldly approaching God's throne of grace. In my mind, I do this because I am complete and righteous in God's eyes. So I can reach out to God without fear, sorrow, or feeling inadequate. I don't have to be limited by my flaws and failings. Because of the Lord's sacrifice for sin on the cross, I can now approach God without apprehension.
Why should we wander aimlessly in a world full of chaos and uncertainty in search of peace? We are invited to come boldly to the throne of grace and pray earnestly before God's throne. These words have been with me from the day I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour!
When we suffer, the enemy of our mind often comes to us with thoughts contrary to God's Word. He attempts to convince us that God doesn't care about us, which is why we suffer, and He is not, has not yet answered and will not answer us, so stop wasting your time with these worthless prayers. Don't listen to the enemy but keep praying and trust in God! Take full advantage of the invitation: "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need" Hebrews 4:16.
We are instructed to be bold. Boldly in this verse is not the same as proud, arrogant, or conceited. Boldly implies that we might continually return, openly without fancy words and should come with assurance. How is this possible? Because we have a High Priest who is both omnipotent and compassionate.
Satan's main tactic is to prevent us from having access to Him. Sometimes the adversary wants us to think of Jesus as being unreachable. The devil sometimes wants us to believe that Jesus is incapable of intervening rather than as one who sits on the throne in heaven. At God's appointed time, He will answer! He promised in this verse that when we pray, "we will find the grace and mercy we need." Now is not the time to be discouraged, but now is the time to pray!
Keep your eyes fixed on the throne of grace so that when you come, you can find grace and obtain mercy (both are something you don't deserve) in your hour of need. In light of Jesus' accomplished work, we see mercy and judgment reconciled into a single throne of grace. Remember that grace does not disregard God's justice; instead, it works to accomplish God's justice in light of the cross.
What a marvellous and heavenly assurance we have in Christ Jesus, our Lord, who is both our Great High Priest and our Mediator. He is both our all-powerful God and our loving Saviour. He is all-knowing, but He is also full of compassion and goodness. It's not because of our value or merit that this invitation has been extended to us. But because of the perfection, worthiness, greatness, and goodness of Christ's self-sacrificial offering on the cross for sin, we have this tremendous privilege.
He is the eternal Son of God, who created the cosmos. The sovereign Lord of heaven and earth, who sits eternally on the throne of grace, filling our hearts with joy. Our heavenly Father's presence was made accessible when the temple's partition, separating man from Him, was split in two from top to bottom.
Our faith is based on His triumphant cry, "it is finished." We are welcomed by God in the Beloved across time and into eternity by the merit of God's only begotten Son. All people who accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour are entitled to this unimaginable privilege.
Therefore, let us draw close with confidence to the throne of grace. We are not to tremble anxiously before His beautiful presence. Instead, we are encouraged to come to Him and continue to come to His throne without fear or hesitation. We are to approach Him freely, frequently, incessantly, and persistently. No request is too modest since He wants us to be anxious over nothing but to pray about everything. "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God," Philippians 4:6. Make your requests known to God!
God is not a faraway deity that we should grovel for attention. He deserves our awe, adoration, and appreciation. No living thing on earth or in heaven is hidden from His all-encompassing gaze. He is omniscient and is able to read our innermost thoughts. He investigates our thoughts' motivations. To His holy presence and pristine sight, everything is made bare.
Take comfort in the knowledge that Christ—the Lamb of God and our High Priest in heaven—has opened the door to the Most Holy Place for everyone who believes in Him.
