Ephesians
5:15-16
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Every crossroad and fork in life's path demands that we make a choice. We make many decisions every day of our lives, 24/7, which define whether we live a wise or a foolish life. This passage is a call to live wisely and a challenge to us as believers to make the most of our time and opportunities.
Paul reminds us to be wise and not unwise. Proverbs 4:7 says, "Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding." As believers, we need to seek wisdom from God through prayer, reading the Bible, and seeking godly counsel from other believers. We need to live our lives with discernment, making choices that are pleasing to God and align with His will.
A wise decision is not based on self-examining anything other than God's wisdom in His Word. Certainly, making sensible decisions requires us to seek the Lord's direction and wisdom. Making decisions independent from God based on our feelings, desires, knowledge, or the advice of others is not wise because we humans have limited understanding, whereas God is all-knowing.
To live as wise individuals, we must first seek the wisdom that comes from God. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." It is important that we seek God's guidance and direction in our daily lives, especially when faced with difficult decisions.
Whenever we're faced with choices, regardless of their significance, we should always ask ourselves, "what is the wisest thing to do"? Seeking God's knowledge through God's Word is the wisest thing to do. A spiritual, disciplined existence makes good use of our time with God in prayer and reading His Word. A disciplined spiritual life leads to godliness.
You must have heard the importance of time management. We must manage our time in a way that pleases God if we are to be like Christ in a society where many prefer to live foolishly rather than wisely.
We must "redeem the time." To "redeem" means to purchase. The most priceless commodity we will ever buy is "TIME" spent in God's unfathomable wisdom. To walk wisely, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit of God. If not, we and everyone will end up in a ditch; thus, He must be living inside of us.
Moreover, Ephesians 5:15-16 reminds us to be intentional with our time, seek opportunities to spread the gospel, and be mindful of the world around us. Remember that we live in a fallen world and will face challenges and trials. However, we should not be discouraged by the evil around us; instead, we should be encouraged by our hope in Christ. Romans 12:21 says, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." We can overcome the darkness around us by shining the light of Christ and living our lives in a way that honours Him.
Let us live our lives purposefully in our faith. 1 Peter 5:8 says, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." We need to be watchful and guard our hearts against the temptations of this world.
How do you spend your time?
