2 Chronicles 15:2

The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

God created the heavens and the earth. He controls the movement of the planets and the length of our days. He made the seasons, set the stars in the heavens, and still has complete knowledge of the number of hairs on your head at any time. The Lord is with you, and He wants you to seek Him. He is strong and magnificent and sits on an eternal throne, and one day have every knee bow before Him.

The meaning of this verse is bold and unmistakable. While you are with the Lord, He is at your side. How much you pursue God or make Him your Lord determines how much He is present in your life. A car in a garage won't do anything on its own. For the optimum driving experience, it needs to be started, driven, and regularly maintained. The same holds for your faith.

We may desire the Lord's presence in our circumstances, choices, and interactions. The mere desire, however, does not guarantee fulfilment. We must look for Him. This doesn't imply that God has disappeared. This means that we must take action to find Him and genuinely know who He is. Only when we actively seek the Lord through prayer and Bible study can we find Him.

Our verse provides two alternatives for how we can relate to the Lord. If you look for Him, you will find Him, but if you turn away from Him, He will forsake you. Jeremiah 29:13 echoes this reality: "You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for me with all your heart."

God is genuinely patient. He waits while we assess the breadth of our belief and the intensity of our devotion to Him. He desires a deep and rich relationship with us, but He leaves it up to us to decide how deep and rich this connection will be.

How often have you lost your keys or glasses? Until I formed the habit of always returning the glasses or the keys to the same location, I was single-focused on tracking them down! The same applies to your faith; how singularly focused are you as you assess your relationship with the Lord? How fervently do you pursue Him? Do you regularly pray and read the Bible? The Lord is there, eagerly awaiting your time with Him. As you consider the promise of this scripture, spend a little time seeking the Lord. Ask God to reveal Himself to you a little more. Your faith strengthens, and your relationship with the Lord deepens as you work to get to know him better. You will experience more insight and tranquillity in every scenario in your life as your faith deepens.

God desires that every person be willing to have a relationship with Him. That's why God sent His Son Jesus down to earth to die on the cross – to have a relationship with each person. Jesus said He's standing at the door and knocking. He wants to spend time with you and become a part of your life. But Jesus will not try to impose Himself on you. The good thing is that the Lord will not be the first to leave this relationship with you. Jesus promised to stay at your side until the end of time.

But if you walk away from Him, you will no longer have His favour on your life.

Are you seeking God with all of your life?
