1 Peter 3:4
Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. - I Peter 3:4

We live in a society grossly consumed with surface-level beauty and outrageous fashion trends. This substantial consumption is miles away from the inward "incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." (1 Pet. 3:4).
Our culture tends to place an exaggerated importance on external beauty. But what is God's view of beauty? God has made everything beautiful, according to the Bible (Ecclesiastes 3:11), even comparing the church to a lovely bride. (Rev. 21:2). The truth is that there is a world of difference between looking beautiful and being beautiful.
Maintaining our appearance, whether male or female, is not wrong. However, a person's outward appearance should never take precedence over one's inner, hidden self. Incorruptible beauty is how Peter characterizes the beauty of the secret person of the heart. It's the difference between the glitz and unadulterated beauty if you will.
Glamour, as an example, is manufactured and imposed. Genuine beauty comes from within and is unaffected by the social environment. Also, glamour is something that may be worn and removed. Authentic beauty, on the other hand, is always present. Glamour is perishable; it deteriorates and fades over time. In comparison, true beauty is ageless and only becomes better with time. Make it a top priority to invest in your internal attractiveness!
Let's rejoice and strive to be less conformed to this world's superficial view of beauty. Seek and identify God's definition of beauty. Value what God values: love for him and others, devotion motivated by gratitude. The godly person who cultivates their inner beauty is one through which the grace and beauty of Jesus will shine forth.
